I agree with everything Valerie Saturen says in this article. I am an ex-teacher, and I have always said I believe about 30 percent of students shouldn't be at school for as many years as they are, because so many learn far better in an apprentice or tutored type of situation. They need to be working with their hands to learn, and some also need the calmer atmosphere of only a few young people around them and more stabilising older people. And the added advantage, is that there is often one person who takes an undivided interest in their welfare generally and their success workwise.
