The “Stop the Merchants of Death” [SMoD] campaign has two PowerPoint presentations.
Either or both can, upon request by your school or group, be presented by one
of our SMoD speakers. Either or both are available for private purchase.
“The War on Terror: Who Profits? Who Loses?” -- This presentation shows
in detail the many ways that war profiteers have come to influence United States
war-making policy. You’ll find out how these corporations use the Defense Policy
Board, Campaign Contributions, Public Relations and media blitzes, and insider
access to make war for profit. You’ll also find out how our SMoD campaign plans
to resist and end war-profiteering – starting with a counter-corporate-recruitment
campaign against Halliburton. Depending on the presenter, this PowerPoint presentation
lasts from 45-55 minutes. If you purchase it for $25, you will also get periodic
updates as more information comes in.
“Start with Halliburton.”
-- You’ll find out how Halliburton uses its “insider influence” on war-making
policy and about its multi-billion dollar contracts for oil, military logistics,
and even the expansion of the infamous Guantanamo torture prison. We’ll ask you
to join our counter-corporate-recruitment campaign against Halliburton by refusing
to be employed by Halliburton until it stops making profit from war – and making
war for profit. Depending on the presenter, this PowerPoint presentation will
last from 10–15 minutes. If you purchase it for $5, you will also get periodic
updates as more information comes in. Feedback.
"As Chair
of the Peace Task Force, I would like to personally thank you, once again, for
your excellent presentation on the "Merchants of Death" last Sunday. Aside from
being personally impressed, I have heard many positive remarks from a number of
the attendees. Some people said your powerfully researched and well-documented
presentation had practically "undone" them! Hopefully, this means that more of
them will become more directly involved in resistance activities ..." "Really
well received. After the talk many people came up to me to say how much they enjoyed
it. Essential for on campus anti-war movements. Simon was extremely courteous
and spent much time chatting with the students." “Thank you for coming
to Holy Cross to speak to us about some of the background causes and consequences
of this destructive US-lead war in Iraq. Your speech and PowerPoint presentation
helped enlighten many of us…You obviously hold great passion and knowledge about
the US situation in Iraq and the peace movement in general. It was both inspiring
and moving to have you speak to us…” “I had to write and tell you just how
affected I was by your lecture “Who Wins, Who Loses?” I was sick that night, and
debated whether or not to come, but I am so glad that I did! I feel like I have
a lot to learn about foreign policy, and I think your presentation was an excellent
place for me to start. I was absolutely shocked by the extent of the business/politics
connection…I couldn’t believe how much power business people have over our government
actions. As soon as I left the lecture, I started having discussions (and arguments)
with friends and family."
"I normally don't like Power Point presentations
because I think they stultify thinking, but this one was tremendous--it stimulates
thinking!" "[T]hanking you for your superb presentation. It has us
all rethinking and evaluating our positions. My students too were changed by your
words. Many thanks. Pace." |
