Volunteer WE WANT YOU to Stop the Merchants of Death! There are many ways you can be a part of the “Stop the Merchants of Death” Campaign! Ways in which you can help us include: Become a Stop the Merchants of Death (SMoD) Organizer We need people who can organize speaking events on college campuses and for community groups or churches. Organizers search for potential sponsors for a SMoD talk, contact speakers from our speakers bureau to find one who is available to speak on the given date, ensures that all of our SMoD forms and materials are with the speaker at the talk, and sends all necessary forms and reports about the event back to the national office. It is not difficult and it is extremely rewarding. It’s a great chance to develop your political organizing skills and to become more deeply connected with the wide network of activists. We are in particular need of organizers throughout the middle part of the country and the south. Let’s make Stop the Merchants of Death a truly national campaign! Join Our Speakers Bureau If you have extensive knowledge in an area of war making, war profiting or profiteering, please contact us to join our excellent speakers bureau. Our Speakers Bureau includes writers, professors, artists, poets, activities, and people with various levels of education. They make up a colorful and well-rounded speakers bureau, and we are proud to have them associated with the War Resisters League and the SMoD program! We are in need of SMoD speakers in the middle part of the country and in the southern states. Contact us today to find out more information about joining our Speakers Bureau. Be a Merchant of Death Objector Start a revolution on your campus or in your community by participating in the SMoD Counter-Corporate Recruitment Campaign by helping us Take Down Halliburton! We want to stop all Merchants of Death and their war making practices! We recognize that Halliburton is the most insidious purveyor of corporate influences in Iraq right now. Help us stop them by saying no to their promises of economic security and by not working for them. Working for Halliburton means working for the War. Check out the rest of our website for downloadable information and organizing brochures about Merchants of Death to help you start a campaign on your campus or in your community. Educate yourself about who the Merchants of Death are and what they do. Contact a SMoD organizer or the WRL National Office to arrange for one of our fantastic speakers to educate your group about Halliburton and corporate involvement in war-making. Get students at your school to sign our Pledge of Resistance Cards and petitions to keep Halliburton and other Merchants of Death off your campus. Some schools and universities give internship credit for working with organizations such as the War Resisters League. We have many volunteer opportunities, as well as one paid internship.
