Fifty-eight percent of your income tax money is going to the military and activities of a military nature. The war on Iran has led to a notable surge, with increases exceeding $1 billion a day
The Pentagon told Congress that the first week of the war on Iran cost $11.3 billion. To replace its arsenal, the Pentagon is expected to ask Congress for an additional $50 billion. Trump wants to add $600 billion to the Pentagon’s Annual budget. This will likely add $39 trillion to the national debt “past military”. This will increase the percentage of your income tax dollars going to the military, and decrease it for human resources, over the coming years. When will this stop? How many will be killed, injured, displaced, deported?
This year’s pie chart shows what The Increasingly Militarized Budget Buys – including bombing Iran, supporting Israel’s war on Gaza, attacking Venezuela and for the mass detention and deportations of tens of thousands of people. The flyer also reminds us how $1.5 trillion could save lives instead.
Most importantly, the flyer lists various options for What you can do. In addition to sharing this information on Tax Day, we encourage you to leaflet on March 28th at No Kings demonstrations. (Download from our website, or order online by noon on March 24th.)
