Want to hone or share your organizing skills? Believe in the power of diaspora communities to organize against US militarism and dismantle all borders? Want to work with one of the oldest and most exciting anti-war and anti-militarism organizations? We are currently taking applications for our Bilezikian Internship Program, which runs for 13 weeks starting Monday, July 29. Application deadline: Wednesday, August 7th.
The Bilezikian intern will work 20 hours a week on a number of organizing projects and administrative tasks. They will work in close collaboration with the War Resisters League (WRL) Field Organizer, primarily on the development and distribution of a new counter-recruitment resource.
Among the specific tasks to be completed the intern will:
- Support the creation of a resource highlighting border patrol counter-recruitment
- Map potential organizations to assist with the roll out of this new resource
- Support communications promoting the new border patrol counter-recruitment resource
- Develop pedagogical framework for the creation of an accompanying workshop to the border patrol counter recruitment resource
- Travel with the Field Organizer to the School of the Americas Watch Border Encuentro in November and help present the resource and workshop
- Submit weekly intern reports including successes, challenges, and future recommendations
The Bilezikian Internship is an opportunity for young people to become involved with a variety of tasks key to the work of a national antiwar organization and to develop their leadership. Applicants with experience in popular education/training, multilingual organizing and campaign work are especially encouraged to apply. Web and design skills are a plus. There is a stipend provided ($300/week and a transit card) and WRL will work with those who can receive college credit. Please note that it is strongly advised that interns have solid housing in NYC before applying.
