What is nonviolence?
Revolutionary nonviolence is an active form of resistance to systems of privilege and domination. It’s not simply the absence of violence, and it’s certainly not passive. Nonviolence is a philosophy for liberation, an approach to movement building, a tactic of non-cooperation, and defense. It is a willingness to break unjust laws and take action. It’s a powerful practice we employ to resist and transform our world. People all over the world have effectively used nonviolence in their work for peace and justice.

Know Before You Go, 'Cause There's No Reset Button

Know Before You Go, 'Cause There's No Reset Button is a collaboration with the Ya-Ya Network (Youth Activists-Youth Allies), a youth of color-led antimilitarist organization based in NYC. Our leaflet breaks down the enlistment contract and life in the military and provides new stats about sexual assault in the military, racial disparities in becoming an officer, and stop-loss. Written to be accessible to everyone while providing the most important info for making a fully informed choice about joining the military, this leaflet will be a staple for counter-recruiters.

J Is For Jannat Tshirt

Honor WRL's 2016 Peace Award winner Jannat Alghezzi, of OWFI, the Organization of Women's Freedom in Iraq!

Jannat serves as OWFI's Media Director and coordinates between OWFI's growing number of shelters for women escaping domestic violence and ISIS.  Jannat herself came up through OWFI's shelter system, which she desribes as "schools" of politicization and empowerment.  WRL's 2016 Peace Award affirmed the importance of a focus on liberatory movements in Iraq now, in the face of a global image associated only with war and sectarianism.
