Sophia Dawson is a Brooklyn based artist. She discovered her talent for painting after creating a portrait of her father while studying at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of music and art. At that very young age of just sixteen, she witnessed that her work moved and touched people from all walks of life. Using God as her guidance and inspiration, Sophia dedicates her life to the creation of art and hopes that her art will open the eyes of humanity. She emphasizes the importance of overcoming the obstacles of life in order to achieve one's goals. Her work revolves around this theme as well. Sophia's paintings focus on the portraits of individuals that are in a state of becoming. She aims to raise awareness on the struggle endured by the society that has raised her. Sophia plans to study at NYU this coming fall for Visual Arts Administration. At the young age of twenty-three, she is raising her one year old son and is motivated to push her artistic career. Sophia hopes to grow as an artist as well as a human being.
